Why mental illness thrives in the world’s wealthiest country (well, at least one reason).

In theory, money creates happiness. In some ways. In some ways this is true. But not always. Freedom creates true happiness. Choosing the path that gives you the most options in the future, the most flexibility, the most freedom. The US is the biggest irony ever, because they preach freedom, yet their people are the least free I have ever seen.

This morning. I woke up, frantic, in a panic over my life. I am in a turning point. In a turning point that’s so crucial, not because I have to figure out what I want. But I have at least a quarter million dollars at stake. At stake not because my parents do not make enough, but because we have built a system of wage slaves. People that need to work, and earn a lot, because they have to pay off their tremendous loans, especially for professional school. Let’s repeat. Work a lot. Already not good! We do not live to work, but work to live! At least, those of us who strive to be healthy, would envision this would be the best approach!

Let’s zoom in to medicine. What is the purpose of becoming a doctor? At the very core, to help people feel better, mostly physically (in theory, in psychiatry, you should also make them feel better emotionally, psychologically, and I argue, spiritually, but that is another issue I will write about…
